>> International Managing Directors Visit Ohio
Global Summit
On Thursday, May 8, the Ohio Department
of Development's Global Markets Division, in conjunction
with the Minority Business Enterprise Division, held the first-ever
Ohio Global Summit. The summit was held to coincide with the annual
visit of the Managing Directors of Ohio's 14 international offices
May 5-9, 2008, at the William C. Green Building, downtown Columbus.
The theme of the summit
was "Exporting to the World" and featured Lt. Governor
Lee Fisher and keynote speaker Robert A. McDonald, chief operating
officer of the Procter & Gamble
Company.
More than 280 guests attended the keynote
address and afternoon breakout sessions. The afternoon workshops featured
expert guest speakers who addressed topics on doing business in Brazil,
China and India, as well as foreign compliance regulations, intellectual
property rights, and logistics, to name a few. For details, access
the links in the "Breakout Sessions" section of this site to view speakers'
PowerPoint slides.
The Annual International Networking Reception concluded the summit
and featured Ohio's international Managing Directors. The reception
was held in the Nationwide Atrium.
Mark your calendar for Thursday,
October 2, when the Minority Business
Enterprise Division, in conjunction with the Global Markets Division,
will hold an all-day conference that will expand on topics and issues
covered during the May 8 summit. The conference will be held again
at the William C. Green Building and Nationwide Plaza.
