State Incentives and Grants:

Ohio Energy Loan Fund - A loan fund provides an incentive for Ohioans to proceed with energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. It reduces the interest rate on standard bank loans for those qualifying Ohio residents and businesses that borrow money to implement an energy efficiency or renewable energy project.


Notice of Funding Available through Ohio Energy Loan Fund Grants – This grant program provides incentives to help Ohioans implement energy efficiency and distributed energy resource technologies.


Conversion Facilities Tax Exemption - Real property tax, personal property tax, sales tax, and/or franchise law exemptions for qualifying facilities


Third Frontier - Governor Taft unveiled The Third Frontier Project in February 2002. This project is the state’s largest-ever commitment to expanding Ohio’s high-tech research capabilities and promoting innovation and company formation that will create high-paying jobs for generations to come. The 10-year, $1.1 billion initiative is designed to:

•  Build world-class research capacity,
•  Support early stage capital formation and the development of new products, and
•  Finance advanced manufacturing technologies to help existing industries become more productive.


Fuel Cells – Through the Third Frontier initiative, grants are available to support the growth of Ohio’s fuel cell industry through collaborations that involve Ohio higher education institutions, non-profit research organizations, and Ohio companies.


Coastal Zone Management Grants - Improvements to and in the coastal area can sometimes be costly and outside the financial resources of a community or private resident. In order to overcome this, the Office of Coastal Management administers various grants and loan programs.


Ohio Coal Development Office   - This office funds the development and implementation of technologies that can use Ohio's vast reserves of high sulfur coal in an economical, environmentally sound manner.


Ohio Air Quality Development Authority  - Free, confidential consultation and financing is provided through the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority’s Clean Air Resource Center.


Ohio’s Biomass Program - The Ohio Biomass Energy Program provides information, resource referrals, business connections, and periodic funding assistance to support the development and use of biomass energy resources in Ohio.
